Sam Heughan Reveals He Auditioned to Be James Bond in His New Memoir

Most fans know Sam Heughan as the swoon-worthy Scotsman Jamie Fraser on the hit series Outlander, but before he was a time-traveler, it turns out that Heughan almost had a licence to kill. In a new excerpt of his upcoming memoir, Waypoints: My Scottish Journey (available October 25), shared with Entertainment Weekly, the actor revealed that he was once up for the part of the iconic spy James Bond.

“It was so hush-hush that nobody ever confirmed that I was being considered for the main role, but I knew. Of course, it blew my mind to think I might even be in the frame for such an iconic figure,” Heughan writes. “I had to remind myself to relax and let them see what I could do with the character.”

Though the role ultimately went to Daniel Craig—”the feedback I received boiled down to the fact that I wasn’t edgy enough by nature,” Heughan reveals—the actor doesn’t appear to harbor any hard feelings. “It was quite an experience,” He told EW. “It was a stage in my life where I probably wasn’t ready for it, but I wonder what would have happened if I had got it.

Of course, now that Craig has recently finished his run and the famed secret agent, and the role may once again be up for grabs, would Heughan consider a second attempt? – Source
