I understand there are paydays to be had, but this literal one weekend celebrity who shares a name with an A- list actor was rejected by the “singer” when she came to her senses and had nothing to do with her people.

Everything Jason Alexander Has Said About Being Married to Britney Spears

Britney Spears’ ongoing conservatorship battle has led to much re-evaluation of the many stories the pop star has been involved in across her nearly 25-year career. Most recently, Jason Alexander has given two explosive interviews in which he alleges that the singer’s family were interfering in her personal life years before the conservatorship began.

Alexander, 39, was married to Spears for 55 hours in 2004 after the pair got married and annulled their union following a New Years trip to Las Vegas. Seventeen years later, he has told two outlets that he was forced to annul the marriage by Spears’ family. Read on for what he told them, and what he has said about the famously short marriage in the past.

Most recently, Alexander spoke to the Daily Mail about Spears’ family’s intervention in their relationship. He said, “What they did to Britney and me should have rung warning bells.

“The men in black swooped in, along with her mum and other family members, and they made us sign paperwork under duress to end our marriage. We didn’t want to annul it.”

He later added: “I was tricked by her mum, dad and lawyers into signing the annulment. I was told our marriage could hurt Britney’s career. I loved her and was a naive kid who had been raised to trust and respect my elders, just like she had.

“We were told that if we still felt the same way about each other in six months, then we could have a big, white wedding. They strung me along for 30 days, which was how long it took to get the annulment finalised, so I couldn’t contest it, and then they changed Britney’s number so I couldn’t talk to her.”

This came shortly after he gave a similar interview to podcast Toxic: The Britney Spears Story.

“They told me if I would sign the contracts—the annulment—they would let me and Britney continue our relationship,” he said. “And if we felt the same way in six months they would give us a proper marriage.”

This is a more specific telling of what happened than he gave back in 2004. That year, he told Access Hollywood that when they let other people know they were married, “that’s when all hell broke loose. We realized that what we did wasn’t probably the right thing we should have done and wasn’t the right way to go about it and that we needed to fix the problem…so that’s when the annulment came in.”

Asked who it was that made them get the annulment, Alexander said, “we both sat down and talked and we was like you know maybe that was not a very cool thing that we should have done or whatever probably wasn’t the right way [to do it].” – Source
