The US government has asked the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking conviction.

Federal prosecutors argue that Maxwell’s legal challenges to the trial’s fairness are baseless and do not justify dismissing the conviction or granting a new trial.

In her appeal, Maxwell, the daughter of late British media mogul Robert Maxwell, accused prosecutors of using her as a scapegoat after Jeffrey Epstein’s death, asserting that public outrage demanded someone to bear the blame.

Maxwell is currently scheduled for potential release in July 2037, accounting for good behavior and the time she spent in jail before her imprisonment.
