Paul Haggis accusers walked out during depositions, lawyer says

Two accusers of Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis walked out in the middle of being deposed by his lawyers, according to new court papers.

The “Crash” director’s lawyers say they want to complete the depositions of the two women — who are anonymous witnesses in publicist Haleigh Breest’s rape case against Haggis — or they want the women’s testimony to be scrapped altogether.

“During their prior depositions, both Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3 walked out before the Defendant had the opportunity to complete his examination,” Haggis’ lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, wrote in new Manhattan Supreme Court papers adding she “vehemently objected” to the alleged walk-outs.

Chaudhry also said on Tuesday and Wednesday she respectively emailed the women’s lawyers about finishing up the depositions but hasn’t gotten a response yet.

“In order to adequately prepare his defense, it is imperative that Mr. Haggis be permitted to engage in extensive pretrial discovery to ascertain the scope and content of these devastating allegations made by non party accusers,” Chaudhry wrote. – Source
