The Second Movie Ruined My Life

Even when this actress opens up about her past and tells you things that make you feel like you are getting it all, she will add a little nugget that makes the story even more incredible.

She is from celebrity royalty.

Everyone knows the last name and no, it is not Barrymore, but you are headed in the right direction.

Everyone knows a little something about her drug and alcohol problems. They don’t know it all.

They assume it is a family thing, genetic perhaps.

They wouldn’t be wrong, but she says there were some moments in her youth and the youth of family members that contributed to all the death and destruction that has surrounded her life.

This is one of those moments.

She was still in her mid teens when she began working in movies.

It’s funny, but everyone assumes her first movie would have given her the most nightmares.

She says that movie was fine.

It was the second that still gives her nightmares.

Even though she was in her mid teens, she had been having sex for a few years.

For the most part, the men she was having sex with were in their 20’s and 30’s.

Looking back, she realizes how messed up that sounds, but an older family member she looked up to had been doing the same thing, so our actress assumed it was OK.

On her second movie, she says she was alone with an actor when he violently raped her.

He had been groping and pawing her for about a week and one day he dragged her to an empty set and raped her.

He then told her to never tell anyone about it.

Every day for the next two weeks of filming, if he managed to see her alone, he would take her somewhere and rape her.

She actually did tell that close family member.

That close family member said if our actress told anyone that even if they believed her, nothing would happen to the actor and that our actress would never get anymore work.

So, our actress turned to drinking and drugs to forget and to numb herself.

She has tried to kill herself multiple times.

Actress: Mariel Hemingway

Older family member: sister Margaux Hemingway

Grandparent: Ernest Hemingway (Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize)

Second movie: Manhattan

Actor: Woody Allen

What Killed Margaux Hemingway?

Margaux Hemingway seemed to have it all, yet a drug overdose led the actress to an untimely death.

She was six feet tall in her bare feet—five foot twelve, she’d say—with such a remarkable face and such a radiant presence and such an alluring name that when she walked into a room, conversation left it. If she shook your hand, you might think your wrist was going to snap. If she knew you well enough she might call you “boopsie” and haul you off on a hike, or a trip to India; of course, with her long legs came great lungs, and you didn’t hike with her, you gasped for breath behind her. When she laughed, it came out big and childlike and innocent. Her looks were so distinctive that when she went to a club and left her purse at home, she could reassure an exasperated companion, “But I don’t need any I.D. I have my eyebrows.”

She started right at the top with the first million-dollar contract ever awarded a model. She wasn’t even out of high school. She asked for none of it. She was just a wide-eyed bronco-riding speed-skiing adventure-loving kid from Idaho who was spotted by Errol Wetson, an entrepreneur who became her first husband, who knew someone who knew people. “No one,” her father said, “could take a bad picture of her.”

On July 6, 1996, her ashes were buried in Ketchum, Idaho, in the shadow of a memorial to her grandfather Ernest Hemingway, arguably one of the twentieth century’s most celebrated literary figures. Like her famous forebear, Margaux Hemingway took her own life—the fifth to do so in four generations of Hemingways, and on the eve of the thirty-fifth anniversary of her grandfather’s death.

The coroner’s report ascribed her death to “acute phenobarbital intoxication.” Her many friends have publicly voiced their disbelief. They contend that any overdose had to have been accidental; that she took the drug for her epilepsy, with which she had been afflicted since age seven; and that it would be just like Margaux to forget she had taken one dose and then down another. But the bottle of drugs found by her bedside was not prescribed. And the coroner’s report put her body’s level of the drug well beyond the therapeutic range. – Source

Mariel Hemingway Says Father Sexually Abused Two Older Sisters Including Super Model Margaux

Exclusive: In an extraordinary new documentary, actress Mariel Hemingway says she’s realized that her late father, Jack, son of writer Ernest Hemingway, sexually abused her two older sisters. One of them, the famed model Margaux Hemingway, committed suicide in 1996. The eldest sister, an artist, lives a quiet life in Idaho. The film, “Running from Crazy,” directed by Oscar winner Barbara Kopple, debuts at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday night. It was executive produced by Oprah Winfrey for her OWN network.

It’s quite a film, actually. Mariel is now 51 years old and the mother of two beautiful daughters, one of whom–Dree–is now a model. Mariel has aged sort of miraculously on the outside. She doesn’t look much different than she did at 18 when she was nominated for an Oscar in Woody Allen’s “Manhattan.” But her story, the story of her family and a grandfather she didn’t know has taken its toll on her. The other miracle is that she’s survived and is able to address a number of subjects including mental health and suicide. She’s become a spokesperson for each, which is admirable considering the legacy with which she was saddled.

And that’s not to say that “Running from Crazy” is depressing because it’s not. Mariel makes the observation that the Hemingways were a little like the Kennedys, a dynastic American family always in the public eye. But there was trouble. “We were WASPS and we didn’t talk about our problems,” she said. Everyone drank. Ernest Hemingway killed himself in 1961; Mariel lives near the house where he shot himself. She didn’t know until she was in her 20s that it was not accidental. – Source
