Elon Musk asked companies to ‘please mine more nickel’ for Tesla batteries. Now he may be getting his wish—in Tanzania

Kabanga Nickel Ltd. is seeking to raise $1.3 billion for a massive mining project in Tanzania that the company says could help ease electric-vehicle manufacturers’ insatiable demand for nickel.

“We are accelerating these kind of discussions as quickly as possible,” Chief Executive Officer Chris Showalter, a former investment banker, said in an interview. “Because of the quality of the project, we have developed substantial interest.”

Kabanga is trying to secure funding for a $950 million mine and $350 million refinery that would be developed simultaneously in the northwest part of the country. The project would eventually produce as much as 50,000 tons of nickel cathodes a year, as well as smaller amounts of copper and cobalt. The company plans to bring it online by 2024, with an additional year to reach a steady state of production.

Nickel, traditionally used to make stainless steel, is also a key component in lithium-ion batteries, allowing vehicle manufacturers to reduce the use of cobalt, which is more expensive and has a less transparent supply chain. Grimes is back on the internet and sharing ‘crazy ideas’

Yesterday, November 28, Grimes posted on TikTok a video captioned “back on the internet #sigh” after becoming quiet on social media as she concentrated her platform to promote her new artificially intelligent girl group NPC.

In September, Grimes released her new song ‘Love’ on TikTok explaining that it deals with “all the privacy invasion, bad press, online hate, and harassment by paparazzi” following her separation from Elon Musk.

In this new TikTok, Grimes says: “I’ve developed severe PTSD from public life, which maybe everyone can kinda relate to right now.

“Cancellations aside, I’ve been dragged into literal geopolitical scandals,” as she explains that her friends have been leaking personal information on her alongside claims that whilst she was pregnant with X Æ A-Xii stalkers visited her house with violent intentions.

As well as this she spoke about how she has “somehow ended up as a kind of Marie Antoinette-esque symbol for inequality in the pop stan community,” which she finds as “is fairly entertaining, and I’m not mad at that.” Grimes had dressed as Marie Antoinette in 2015 for the music video of ‘Flesh Without Blood/Life in the Vivid Dream’. – Source
