Don’t believe for a second that the restaurant giant’s latest marketing stunt is some sort of affectionate tribute.

They may have let it slide for decades, but now that this foreign country’s entertainment industry is so popular worldwide, they are coming for the royalties by trademarking a favorite gimmick of that industry and making it officially theirs.

Don’t expect to see it used in too many shows from now on.

McDonald’s is undergoing a playful transformation, flipping its iconic logo to “WcDonald’s” in a nod to anime culture.

The move is inspired by the appearance of upside-down golden arches in popular anime TV shows and movies.

This transformation includes a new sauce, manga-style packaging, and episodic videos.

The highlight is the limited-edition Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce, described as a zesty blend of ginger, garlic, and chili flakes.

McDonald’s sees this crossover as a way to engage with fans who have embraced anime, bringing their creativity to life in restaurants globally.

The WcDonald’s campaign launched on February 26 in over 30 markets, promising an exciting journey into the anime-inspired universe.
