Sherri Shepherd has tested positive for COVID and will pause production on Sherri

Statement from Shepherd said: “I am absolutely heartbroken that I cannot return to host my show this week. As soon as I get the all-clear from my doctor, I look forward to coming back strong to deliver the fun, laughter and a real good time.”

The talk show “Sherri” has resumed a new season on Monday. In contrast to “The Drew Barrymore Show,” which faced criticism for initially planning its return but later changing its decision, “Sherri” is not under the Writers Guild of America (WGA) jurisdiction.

Talk shows like “Sherri” operate under the SAG-AFTRA Network Code, which is separate from the contract that governs scripted shows. This allows the show’s actors to continue their hosting duties even during the ongoing strike.

In 2021, Wendy Williams left The Wendy Williams Show due to health issues. Guest hosts stood in during her absence, one of them was Sherri Shepherd.

The Wendy Williams Show has been canceled, its last episode airing June 17.

Shepherd took over the show’s previous time slot with her new talk show, Sherri.
