Now, even the lawyer of the “singer” wants her to not be able to control her own money.

He says that at some point in the future she can maybe control it again.

Don’t forget, the last person he picked was trying to take over his mom’s money before a judge slapped it down.

Britney Spears’ attorney says her engagement is ‘another essential’ reason to boot her father from conservatorship

Pop star Britney Spears is still fighting to have her father immediately removed from her conservatorship, and her legal team is now pointing to her recent engagement as a reason to give him the boot sooner rather than later.

In a new court filing on Wednesday, Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart called for the singer’s father, Jamie Spears, to be immediately suspended as conservator of her estate “by no later than September 29th,” when a hearing is scheduled, Deadline and BuzzFeed News report. Spears’ legal team said “another essential” reason to do so is that she recently became engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari, and they plan to sign a prenuptial agreement.

“The prenuptial agreement process will require communications with and cooperation from the conservator of her estate but … given that Ms. Spears’s relationship with that conservator (her father) is broken, Mr. Spears’s continued involvement would impede the ability to negotiate and consummate a contract that all can agree is in Ms. Spears’s best interests,” the filing says, per Deadline. – Source

Who Is Mathew Rosengart, Britney Spears’ New Lawyer?

In court Wednesday, Britney Spears was represented for the first time in her 13-year conservatorship by a lawyer she herself had chosen: Mathew Rosengart.

Rosengart comes to the Spears conservatorship with a lot of star power. He was recently highlighted in the 2021 edition of Variety’s annual “Legal Impact Report,” which mentions that he represents Steven Spielberg and his Amblin Entertainment, actors Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Keanu Reeves, actor Sean Penn and his non-profit aid group CORE, musician Eddie Vedder and the talent and sports agency Creative Artists Agency. Other clients include Shark Tank’s Daymond John, actor Winona Ryder and Miami Heat basketball player Jimmy Butler. He has also been named repeatedly to The Hollywood Reporter’s annual “power lawyer” list, including in 2021.

Before turning his attention to the entertainment industry, Rosengart served as a federal prosecutor, and worked at the Justice Department as an assistant U.S. attorney. According to a recent New York Times profile, he also clerked for David Souter, when the former Supreme Court justice was a state judge in New Hampshire.

In court Wednesday, Rosengart asserted that it was probably never appropriate to have instituted a conservatorship over Spears in the first place. He also had words aimed at the pop star’s father, Jamie Spears, who has had primarily control over the conservatorship for the past 13 years: “If he loves his daughter, it’s time to step aside so Ms. Spears can move forward to a healthy, productive life.” – Source
