Russell Simmons: I’m ‘guilty’ of being a ‘playboy’ but didn’t force myself on women

Russell Simmons has once again denied the sexual assault allegations against him, insisting that while he’s guilty of being a “playboy”, he has never forced himself on anyone.

Accusations against the hip-hop mogul first emerged in 2017, in a New York Times article in which Drew Dixon, a former executive at his Def Jam record label, claimed Simmons raped her at his apartment in Manhattan, New York.

Two more women, Sil Lai Abrams and Sheri Sher, have also accused Simmons of sexual misconduct, but as he appeared on radio show The Breakfast Club on Wednesday, the 62-year-old again hit back at the claims.

When co-host Charlamagne tha God asked Simmons if he’s watched HBO Max docuseries On the Record, in which the three women detail their alleged encounters with him, Simmons replied: “I have not watched it.”

He went on to explain: “I’m guilty – of having underwritten, supported, made soundtracks for, taken advantage of, and lived in a grossly unjust society,” he went on. “I helped write the song I’m a H* with Whodini. … I made the movie How to Be a Player and Bell Bill Bellamy played me. So I know what I’m guilty of, and I’ve been unconscious as a playboy, and today the title is appropriate of ‘womanizer,’ So I’m guilty of that. And you know, back then I thought it was a game … there were no black actresses that I didn’t date, and they’re my friends today. – Source
