Did you know: Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie grew up in a Castle

The Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie actually grew up at Lickleyhead Castle, her family’s 16th-century Scottish home.

Through both her father – who is the head of Clan Leslie – and mother, Leslie claims significant historical figures as kin. Like her husband Kit Harington, Rose Leslie counts King Charles II as an ancestor.

Sebastian Leslie, the father of Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie said he borrowed money from his actress daughter and her husband, actor Kit Harrington, after he lost the 16th centruy Lickleyhead Castle in Aberdeenshire.

The castle, where Rose grew up and which was once on sale for £1.3 million, was repossessed as Mr Leslie faced court action from a loan company battling to recover debts.

Lickleyhead was built by the Leslie clan around 1560.

The family also own Wardhill Castle in Inverurie.
