Proceeds From Kanye and Drake’s #FreeLarryHoover Will Benefit Charities, Rep Clarifies

On Thursday, December 9, Kanye West (now legally known as Ye) and Drake publicly squashed their beef during the Amazon-sponsored “Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert.” Profits from the show were directed to Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, Hustle 2.0, and Uptown People’s Law Center, and the event was intended to “[raise] awareness of the need for prison and sentencing reform.” A portion of the merch proceeds created to commemorate the event were also directed to those organizations.

A previous version of this story noted that merch sales would not benefit charities based on a GQ report.

The #FreeLarryHoover merchandise is being sold on Amazon, and includes pieces “engineered by Balenciaga,” as the product description reads. The merch capsule includes t-shirts (at $100 and $160), jeans ($400), a ball cap ($60), and more, all with the words “Free Hoover” printed on them.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story, based on GQ reporting, incorrectly stated that proceeds from the event’s affiliated merchandise would not be directed to charities.Source

One-of-a-kind Kanye-signed ‘DONDA’ vest and NFT sell for £55,000

A ‘DONDA’ vest, said to have been worn by Kanye West at his Atlanta listening party for the new album this summer, has sold alongside an NFT at auction for $75,000 (£56,000).

The sale features the vest, which features a hand-painted “DONDA” logo and is signed by Kanye with the acronym “MBD” (meaning My Body Different, the name of the security firm that worked the August 5 event in Atlanta).

Alongside the vest itself is an NFT described as a “digital representation” of the vest worn during the Atlanta listening party.

The vest, which West had gifted to a security guard, was previously sold for $20,000 (£14,567) back in August after it was reportedly given to LA-based e-commerce consignment shop owned by Justin Reed who in turn sold it. – Source
