So, the three name singer/muse refuses to have a new version of a song released, even though it features a sermon by a guy who stole well over $1M from his employees, enabled a rapist, and paid the six figure entrance fee to join the megachurch cult which allows pastors to make big bucks speaking at churches who have also paid the cult initiation fee.

Lana Del Rey Included a Megachurch Pastor’s Sermon on Her Album and Fans Are Divided

Lana Del Rey’s ninth studio album, Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard, was released last week to general acclaim. But the Grammy winner has also received pushback for the track “Judah Smith Interlude,” which features a four-and-half-minute recording of a sermon from the titular pastor. Smith has been with the non-denominational Christian mega-church Churchome since his father founded the ministry in 1992.

In the interlude, Del Rey and her friends can be heard giggling and making snide comments in the background as Smith addresses a wide range of topics, from the sin of lusting after one’s neighbor to the question of why God bothers with “puny, mortal men.”

“And you’re not gonna like this, but I’m gonna tell you my truth,” Smith concludes, addressing God. “I’ve discovered my preaching is mostly about me.”

This isn’t the first time the famous pastor, who has over 700,000 Instagram followers, has been featured on a major album. In 2021, he appeared on Justin Bieber’s EP Freedom.

However, it hasn’t escaped fans’ notice that Smith has a history of making harmful comments about the LGBTQ+ community. According to Marie Claire, in a 2005 interview with Seattle Post-Intelligencer, he called homosexuality a sin comparable to “murder, rape, or living with your girlfriend.” Though Marie Claire and the Daily Beast both reference this 2005 interview, Them was unable to independently verify these remarks. In the same Marie Claire profile, Smith claimed that Churchome would “welcome people regardless of their beliefs or background.” – Source
