The Susan Lucci of Oscar nominations is saying the quiet part out loud.
The thing I have been telling you for years and years.
The only reason this A- list mostly movie actress with the lucrative side gig won an Oscar is because of who she slept with.
Oh, and not just the disgraced producer.
It was also the foreign reporter who then championed her to his colleagues and gave her momentum for the Oscars.
Long considered one of Oscar’s most overdue actresses, Glenn Close (“The Wife”) received her seventh career nomination on January 22, 2019. This bid marked her fourth for Best Actress, while the other three were for Best Supporting Actress

Glenn Close says Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1999 Oscar win ‘didn’t make sense’
According to Glenn Close, the Academy missed the mark when it awarded Gwyneth Paltrow a best actress win in 1999 for “Shakespeare In Love.”
During an interview with ABC News’ “Popcorn with Peter Travers,” the “Hillbilly Elegy” star, 73, praised actress Fernanda Montenegro, whose powerful performance in “Central Station” Close feels beat Paltrow’s.
“I honestly feel that to be nominated by your peers is about as good as it gets. And then, I’ve never understood how you could honestly compare performances, you know?” Close said. “I remember the year Gwyneth Paltrow won over that incredible actress who was in ‘Central Station’ and I thought, ‘What?’ It doesn’t make sense.”
“So I think who wins has a lot of things to do with how things have been, you know, whether it has traction or whatever,” she continued. “Publicity, how much money did they have to put it out in front of everybody’s sight. I have to be philosophical about it, if I was upset about it.” – Source
