When a company can spend $5M on private detectives to follow and dig into the past and present life of a political figure for six months and were willing to spend much more, but apparently got enough to make the life of the figure horrible, maybe the political figure should think about negotiating.

Apparently this is the oppo research package to end all oppo research packages.

In politics, opposition research (also called oppo research) is the practice of collecting information on a political opponent or other adversary that can be used to discredit or otherwise weaken them. The information can include biographical, legal, criminal, medical, educational, or financial history or activities, as well as prior media coverage, or the voting record of a politician. Opposition research can also entail using “trackers” to follow an individual and record their activities or political speeches.

Disney sues Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis over control of self-governing district

The Walt Disney Co. on Wednesday filed a lawsuit in federal court against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and other officials alleging a “targeted campaign of government retaliation” after the company publicly opposed a state law that critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”

Disney and DeSantis have been embroiled in a feud over Walt Disney World’s self-governing privileges in the Orlando area, which the possible Republican presidential contender has threatened to revoke. The corporation is one of the state’s largest employers and a key driver of tourism.

The power struggle started when Disney, under then-CEO Bob Chapek, criticized the Florida government for a state education law that opponents have dubbed “Don’t Say Gay.” DeSantis signed the bill into law in March 2022 amid growing speculation that he might challenge former President Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination. – Source
