Other guys will go, “Oh, you’re so gorgeous!” or “Oh, you’re so talented!”, but [the female singers] hear that all the time.

What he does is he listens to one of their songs and pull out something very specific (like one line from the lyrics or one chord change), and tell them how that one little thing made the song and that he would be honored to work with someone so talented.

They hear that and they are flattered and assume that he is really attentive and sensitive and that he really “gets them” and they fall for him.
