On December 7, Emmanuelle Debever, the French actress who initially accused Gérard Depardieu of sexual assault, tragically took her own life by jumping into the Seine river in Paris.

She was 60 years old.

Debever’s passing coincided with the TV broadcast of an investigative documentary that delved into various s.e.x..ual assault allegations against Depardieu.

This documentary, part of the investigative news program Complément d’Enquête, had teased the report a week earlier with clips from an interview featuring actress Hélène Darras.

Darras had filed an official complaint against Depardieu, accusing the French star of s.e..x.u.ally assaulting her on the set of the 2007 film Disco.

Debever herself was featured in the documentary, detailing her allegations against Depardieu for assaulting her on the set of the 1982 film Danton, a period drama directed by Andrzej Wajda, in which Depardieu portrayed Georges Danton.
