While the show was airing, he had a crazy scandal that was on the front of the tabloids, and if it happened now, would have seen him fired and maybe the show canceled. His wife  sued him for one million dollars over claims of “s.e.x. assault, forced drugs, and voodoo.”

His wife claimed the actor “fired a bullet into the ceiling of their bedroom and threatened to fire more” and forced her to use “PCP and LSD” and assaulting her “while she was tied up with a rope.”

LOS ANGELES — Actor Erik Estrada and his former wife are under court order to stop talking about each other in public.

The judge issued the order Friday when he dismissed a pair of contempt charges that Estrada and Joyce Miller Estrada filed against each other following their divorce last year.

Estrada, 33, star of the ‘CHiPs’ television series, claimed that his ex-wife made derogatory comments about him in an interview published in the National Enquirer. And Mrs. Estrada, 40, charged that the actor criticized her during a television interview with Rona Barrett.

‘This has been an explosive case,’ Superior Court Judge Harry Shafer said during a short court session following an hour-long discussion in his chambers.

‘I want this to be the end of it. Neither party is to speak favorably or unfavorably about the case to anyone.’

The couple was secretly married in November 1979 in Las Vegas, Nev..

In a divorce settlement last December, they were told not to make derogatory remarks about each other.

Estrada also was ordered to pay his wife $130,000 over four years, and to give her a set of monogrammed yellow towels. She was ordered to return to him a Mrs. Estrada had claimed he caused her emotional distress in a separate suit, but dropped the action after the divorce.
