This former A+ list singer hasn’t had a hit in years.

So, she decided to go back to work with the music producer who gave her all her hits.

The same music producer accused of rape.

Dr. Luke

Katy Perry expressed her distress upon discovering the accusation that she was raped by Dr. Luke—an allegation she vehemently denies.

This revelation surfaced in an unsealed deposition from the ongoing legal dispute between Dr. Luke and Kesha. In the court documents, Katy Perry, during her fully unsealed deposition on July 21, 2017, revealed that upon hearing Kesha’s claims against the music producer, she felt compelled and pressured to show support for Kesha.

“I felt pressured, but I also knew both of them and a lot of people did not. So it was easy for them to be disattached and support an idea rather than an actual instance,” she said.

Perry went on to disclose that, during that period, she received a barrage of angry messages on Twitter from users who believed that her silence on Dr. Luke amounted to “supporting rape.”

“People were generally very angry at me for not saying anything,” she said.

When questioned about her choice not to collaborate with Luke on her latest album, Witness, Perry explained that she wanted to avoid giving the impression that she was “taking sides.”
