Salt Bae: Internet shocked by diner’s supposed £37,000 bill
Salt Bae’s London restaurant has only been open for a few weeks and already, there is a serious buzz around the luxury steakhouse and its pricey menu.
Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, owns a chain of luxury steakhouses called Nusr-Et. Already established in Dubai, New York, and Mykonos, the Turkish chef’s London venue is his latest venture.
Several people have shared pictures of eye-watering receipts supposedly from Nusr-Et, but the latest receipt to go viral took the cost of dining at the restaurant to new heights.
A picture of a receipt posted to Reddit, which has since been removed from the r/London sub-Reddit, claims to show the sky-high price of dining at Nusr-Et London.
The diners sipped on two bottles of Petrus 2003, which if the receipt is to be believed, cost £9,950 each. They also guzzled a bottle of Petrus 1996 at a cost of £9,100.
More conservatively priced, relatively, were the two bottles of Dom Pérignon Rosé at £810 per bottle.
The rest of the bill seemingly went towards food and soft drinks, with the receipt showing the foursome shelled out £850 for a golden tomahawk, £18 for asparagus, £50 apiece for golden baklava, and £11 for a Red Bull.
Commenting on the Reddit thread, one user wrote that posting receipts from this restaurant is “the latest social media flex”.
Another wrote: “You spent £30k of the £37k bill on Petrus. That’s not the restaurant ‘being expensive’ that’s you buying a crazy expensive wine.” – Source
