Elon Musk jokes about whistleblowers with new Tesla product

Mr Musk’s tweet to his 65.1m followers said “Blow the whistle on Tesla!” with a link to a $50 (£38) “Cyberwhistle”.

It is currently marked as out of stock on Tesla’s website.

In recent months, the electric carmaker has faced lawsuits over alleged sexual harassment and racist abuse at its Fremont factory in California.

In the short thread, Mr Musk also tweeted:”Don’t waste your money on that silly Apple Cloth, buy our whistle instead!”, in a reference to the iPhone maker’s $19 microfibre polishing cloth that went on sale last month.

“Inspired by Cybertruck, the limited-edition Cyberwhistle is a premium collectible made from medical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish. The whistle includes an integrated attachment feature for added versatility,” the website description said. – Source

Tesla Stock Losses Top $250 Billion After Report Alleging New SEC Probe

Shares of Tesla plunged Monday morning after a Reuters report alleging the Securities and Exchange Commission is probing claims the electric-vehicle maker failed to properly disclose safety risks associated with its solar panels, adding to a slew of concerns that have tanked the stock’s value since an all-time high just last month.

Tesla stock fell up to 5% after Reuters reported the SEC opened the investigation over a whistleblower complaint filed by a former field quality manager in 2019, alleging Tesla and the energy company it acquired in 2016, SolarCity, did not publicly disclose a “liability and exposure to property damage, risk of injury [to] users [and] fire” before the acquisition.

The whistleblower complaint also alleged Tesla failed to tell customers that defective electrical connectors could lead to fires, Reuters reported of the SEC investigation, which marks the agencys first into the SolarCity acquisition that itself sparked a years-long shareholder lawsuit. – Source
