Lamar Odom’s brightest days on the NBA court are a distant memory for him, and the one-time basketball star descended into some dark times after his playing career.

Odom was left on death’s door when he was found in a coma in a Las Vegas brothel after a cocaine overdose, but now things are better.

He was haunted by his vices and was caught in a spiral of self-destruction that almost took his life.

“I no longer wake up thinking about wearing stripes, walking in dark places, or feeling empty,” Odom said. “When Kobe died the old Lamar, who needed no excuse, didn’t appear and drug use didn’t even cross my mind.”

A dating and sex addiction also gave him problems, and his former partner Sabine Parr is now out of his life, with both having described the relationship as abusive.

“The breakup left me heartbroken but it saved my soul,” Odom said. “It was an abusive relationship. – Source
