Biohub

Six and a half years ago, Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Dr. Priscilla Chan pledged $3 billion to support basic science research, with a portion dedicated to creating a biomedical research center in San Francisco in partnership with several universities.

In late 2021, they committed an additional $3.4 billion to science-related initiatives.

Now, the couple is unveiling a new biohub in Chicago, funded with $250 million from their $6.4 billion Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

This biohub, in collaboration with Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will focus on gaining a deeper understanding of human tissue function through the development of miniature sensors.
