If you are going to perform for one of the world’s national treasures and one of the favorite people of this country, try not to perform drunk.

Elle King

Dolly Parton

The Grand Ole Opry issued an apology on social media to an audience member following a controversial performance by Elle King at a Dolly Parton tribute show. During the event, King openly admitted to being intoxicated, used profanity, and forgot song lyrics. She engaged in an exchange with the audience about refunds and sang gibberish and improvised lines during one of Dolly Parton’s songs.

Despite her erratic behavior, she made it clear that there would be no refunds, leading to an audience member’s refusal. TikTok videos captured the incident, with one attendee noting that King swore on stage multiple times and forgot lyrics before the venue closed the curtain on her. King’s representative has not commented on the situation. Fans expressed their disappointment on social media, describing King’s performance as “horrible, drunk, and profane,” leading to the Grand Ole Opry issuing an apology for the incident.

“I don’t know the lyrics to these things in this f—ing town,” King sang.

“Don’t tell Dolly ’cause it’s her birthday.”

“Everyone’s like, holy s—, we bought tickets to this s—. I’m not even going to lie,” she said while putting her hands in her pockets. “Holy s—. I’m not even going to f—ing lie. Y’all bought tickets for this s—?”

After telling fans that they “ain’t gettin’ your money back,” a crowd member then responded with “I don’t want it.”

“Good, ’cause you ain’t getting it”

“I’ll tell you one thing more. Hi, my name is Elle King and I’m f—ing hammered,” King said.
