If the former network reality singer has split from his most recent boyfriend, that would be bad news for the singer.

The boyfriend was the only person keeping him somewhat in check from the singer’s self destructive behavior.

David Archuleta

David Archuleta, who came out as LGBTQ+ in June 2021, opened up about his struggles with suicidal thoughts, distancing from the Mormon church, and embracing his true self at 32. He shared his journey on the Masked Singer, emphasizing the importance of embracing one’s identity and encouraging others facing similar challenges to show their true colors.

Coming out at 30, he spent 15 years attempting to be straight, struggling with self-blame. Archuleta, like others in the LDS community, contemplated suicide before realizing his authentic identity, expressing relief and happiness at his current life stage.

Archuleta, initially wanting to stay in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, became disillusioned with the church’s response to LGBTQ+ issues, particularly their handling of the suicide epidemic among LGBTQ+ Mormon youth. Frustrated with the church’s denial and harmful narratives, he ultimately distanced himself, feeling taken advantage of and unwilling to lead others astray.

David Archuleta, after a lifetime of being taught the importance of marriage, expresses a desire to be married and describes himself as graysexual or demisexual. While he still feels some attraction to women, he has explored dating guys, finding it to be a beautiful experience and acknowledging a preference for being with guys. Finally, at 32, he understands the feelings expressed in his debut single “Crush” and is enjoying the experience of having a crush for the first time in his life.
