Yuzuru Hanyu, the renowned figure skating icon and two-time Olympic champion, took to social media on Friday to announce his divorce, just three months after making his marriage public. Hanyu cited ongoing troubles involving slander, stalking, and excessive media scrutiny as the reasons for the separation.
Despite publicly revealing his marriage on August 4, Hanyu did not disclose the identity of his partner, who he said was not a celebrity.
In his recent statement, Hanyu expressed that both his partner and their families have been subjected to stalking, slander, and intrusive media coverage, with reports based on these incidents being published without authorization.
“Because of my limited experience of life, it was extremely difficult to keep my partner and myself safe under these circumstances, and I found it unbearable,” he said.
