She had it all before crashing and burning

Kate Gosselin, 50, looked nearly unrecognizable in a new Instagram video where she showed fans how to make a protein shake in her kitchen. Wearing minimal makeup, her blonde hair down, and a casual black T-shirt, she appeared far removed from the glamorous reality TV image she once projected.

Gosselin became a household name on Jon & Kate Plus 8, which chronicled life with her ex-husband Jon and their eight children—twin daughters, now 23, and sextuplets, now 20. The show ran from 2007 to 2017 and at its peak drew millions of viewers.

Over the years, she also competed on Dancing With the Stars, The Celebrity Apprentice, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. On DWTS, she lasted five weeks before elimination, and on Celebrity Apprentice, she was fired as project manager after a lost challenge. Her most recent TV appearance ended early due to an injury during a helicopter task.

Now, Gosselin is said to be struggling financially and may have to sell her home in North Carolina. She has had difficulty finding steady work outside of reality TV, and a brief return to nursing didn’t work out. She is reportedly still seeking another television project, but opportunities have been scarce.

Once known for her on-camera confidence, she is now rarely seen in public and is said to keep a small circle, focusing on home life while looking for a way back into the spotlight.
