It was nice to finally see what people long suspected about the permanent A list singer and her long time lover.

It would also have been nice to see the truth teller admit that the relationship went on up through the singer’s marriage before the truth teller finally had enough and broke it off.

Robyn Crawford says she’s telling her love story with Whitney Houston ‘to share who that woman was behind all the fame’

Robyn Crawford — who was Whitney Houston’s best friend, roommate, confidante and, yes, lover — is speaking out about the book she wrote about their relationship in an interview with NBC.

A preview of her Dateline sit-down aired Thursday on the Today show and Crawford talked about why she decided to write A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston, having kept silent about their love affair for decades.

“I watched her rise to the top of her game and I felt compelled to share who that woman was behind all the fame,” Crawford told NBC News’s Craig Melvin. “I never envisioned speaking publicly about my life and then I asked myself the question, ‘What would Whitney want? Would she understand you know, the time is now?’”

As for that romance, the physical part was fleeting. The women met as teenagers at a summer camp in 1980 and began an intimate relationship, but it was cut short when Houston signed a record deal with Clive Davis at Arista in 1983. Crawford wrote in her book that Houston said they had to end their physical romance because she was afraid people would find out and use it against them. Further, Crawford said that Houston’s mom, Cissy, did not approve of their closeness.- Source

Eddie Murphy told Whitney Houston it’d be ‘a mistake’ to marry Bobby Brown, claims singer’s friend in new book

Eddie Murphy warned Whitney Houston about marrying Bobby Brown hours before their 1992 wedding, claims the late singer’s longtime friend Robyn Crawford.

In an excerpt from her new memoir — “A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston” — obtained by People magazine, Crawford first details Houston’s history with famed comedian Murphy — noting that she “lost herself” in pursuit of the comedian.

“[Whitney] was more interested in Eddie Murphy, but he was elusive,” Crawford writes.

Per the outlet, Crawford also recalled one specific memory that saw Houston preparing dinner for Murphy, who was supposed to meet the “I Will Always Love You” singer at her New Jersey mansion.

“One day when Eddie was supposed to come for dinner, I caught a glimpse of Whitney,” Crawford wrote. “She was wearing a black dress and low-heeled slingbacks. For a moment, I thought ‘Boy, I wish she was doing that for me.’”

However, Crawford noted that Murphy was a no-show for the dinner, leaving Houston devastated at the ordeal.- Source
