Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand was initially named Kimono but was renamed to Sims after a controversy in which she was accused of appropriating the name of a traditional Japanese clothing item. The brand was designed with inclusivity and diversity in mind, yet somehow, the original name was not chosen with careful thought and consideration. Was it intentional in order to create a stir? �It is questionable. While the attempt at wordplay is somewhat funny, it may not be so funny that they intended to trademark “Kimono” and planned to release whips, body oil, and garter belts after the first shapewear line.
