This radio host and A list comic movie director agreed to not give this long time comic/addict any more money so the comic/addict would not be able to purchase drugs.

The radio host did his part, but the comic director decided against it and advanced the comic/addict $15K which he used on drugs and almost died.

Artie Lange on Anthony Cumia: ‘It’s gentle ribbing … sarcasm’

Comedian Artie Lange who announced on New Jersey 101.5 that he was entering rehab, came back to our studios to tell us how it went. Among the things Lange spoke of were his feelings on Anthony Cumia, formerly of the iconic “Opie and Anthony” radio tea, whom he co-hosted a show with and allegedly “ranted” about on twitter.

Was it a rant or just sarcasm?

“I’m glad I can rebut this,says Lange, “because first of all Cumia does a show which no one listens too now because I’m not on it. Actually listenership went up when i left … [on the comments Cumia made towards him] it was gentle ribbing.” I asked if he would be okay with having Anthony call in and he said “Sure” – Source

Exclusive interview: Judd Apatow talks Crashing, Artie Lange and comedy’s current landscape

M&C: One of your star players on this series is kind of living a lot of issues out on Twitter, Artie Lange. I wanted to know if you wanted to speak to your thoughts on Artie’s involvement with the show and what’s going on.

Judd Apatow: When we started working with Artie we were aware that he has struggles with substance abuse, and we felt like we could work with him if we honestly reflected what was happening.

He was very brave last season to do an entire episode about his addictions and he felt that if he talked about how much pain he’s in, struggling with addictions, maybe someone will see this episode and they’ll be at a party one day and someone will say “You want to try this?”

And they’ll say no because they remember how much Artie seems to be suffering.

And he was really funny and gave an amazing performance in that episode. It was a sad tragic story that we told and we didn’t try to make it any happier than it is.

He’s in a terrible struggle, and over the last few months people have seen the result of that struggle. We pray for him, and hope that he can find the strength to get healthy, but it’s very scary and it’s very real. It’s a constant concern.- Source
