This former A-list athlete who is known as much for his conservative Christian values as his skills on the playing field is getting married.

His engagement raised a few eyebrows as there’s been speculation that he’s closeted.

Some say he chose his foreign-born model bride-to-be because her ability to remain self controlled under pressure will make her a good beard. Meanwhile, his name could help boost her career in the U.S. (Miss South Africa 2017/Miss Universe 2017) The athlete’s fiancée doesn’t seem to share his conservative values.

She’s drawn criticism from the athlete’s fans for misquoting Bible verses on her Instagram account and for filling it with sexy selfies.

One critic posted a Instagram screenshot of a topless woman (who bears a striking resemblance to the fiancée) balancing a glass of wine on her breast.

Interestingly, the athlete’s fiancé has hired a well-known gay, married event planner to plan their wedding.

This has drawn criticism from a gay rights advocate who questioned why the athlete, who is affiliated with a religious denomination that opposes same-sex marriage, expects a gay, married man to plan his wedding.
