Witherspoon and Phillippe met when Phillippe crashed Witherspoon’s 21st birthday party in 1997.

“I crashed her party,” Phillippe told The Morning Call in 1999. “I went with a friend because I knew there would be free food and drinks. I was just sitting back in the corner pounding away the drinks when somebody walked over and introduced Reese to me.”

“I don’t know what came over me — maybe the seven Midori sours — but I told [Ryan], ‘I think you’re my birthday present,'” Reese told Jane magazine in 1998. “He thought it was so flattering, and now that I think about it … how embarrassing!”

They were already living together and engaged by the time they co-starred in Cruel Intentions in 1998. Three months after the film’s premiere in 1999, they tied the knot and had their first child, Ava, three months after that. Four years later, they had their son, Deacon.

They became one of the most talked-about couples in Hollywood, but their relationship wasn’t always perfect. In March 2002, they made headlines after Phillippe commented on their pay gap while presenting with his wife at the 74th Academy Awards.

Then, in 2006, news of their divorce broke. “We are saddened to announce that Reese and Ryan have decided to formally separate,” a rep for the couple announced. “They remain committed to their family, and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time.”

But as soon as the reports came out, Phillippe started dating a new woman, his Stop-Loss co-star, Abbie Cornish, and people started accusing Phillippe of cheating.

Shortly after being accused, Phillippe sent out the following statement: “I’m not a perfect person, but I’m not guilty of a lot of the things I have been accused of. My priority is and always has been the health and safety of my family.”

Witherspoon told 60 Minutes that her divorce was hard, and it affected her career. “You know, you can’t really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs,” she said. “I was just kind of floundering career-wise cause I wasn’t making things I was passionate about, I was just kinda working. It was really clear the audiences weren’t responding to anything I was putting out there.” – Source

‘Jack Ryan’: Abbie Cornish To Return As Cathy Mueller In Season 4 Of Amazon Series

There has been a lingering mystery surrounding Cathy Mueller, Ryan’s love interest in the first season, as well as in the books. The character was never written out of the show, she just disappeared. There was not a single reference of her throughout Season 2, and the only clue given was Ryan (John Krasinski) sleeping with another woman early on in the season, and then later on saying he’s single.

There is no information how Cathy will be reintroduced on the show. Her return could be set up in the upcoming third season, production on which recently wrapped with a premiere date still TBD. – Source
