Parents irked by Katie Holmes’ FBI drama pilot filming next to Chicago school

Jennifer Kotecki said she was appalled that a sniper scene for a TV pilot was being filmed Tuesday in a park next to her seventh-grader’s Near North Side school.

“It is unconscionable that the city would allow this to even occur on our public property. We’re just on the heels of what happened down in Florida. I mean, it’s ridiculous,” Kotecki told the Tribune as she referenced the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

Actors wearing FBI gear and carrying large guns could be seen filming Tuesday morning at the Seward Park basketball courts next to Immaculate Conception St. Joseph School’s Hill Street campus. Simulated gunfire could be heard from school grounds.

School officials notified parents Monday that the filming would take place. The officials did not return a Tribune request for comment, but in their note to parents, they said they were told of the filming late Monday. The school was on spring break last week. The pilot’s production team declined to comment Tuesday. – Source
