One of the problems with this televised NYE show that crashed and burned is that one of the hosts was doing their best to try and sleep with a production assistant and didn’t much care about anything other than that.

Why Everyone Thinks Carson Daly’s New Year’s Eve Special Was a ‘Complete Disaster’

Carson Daly’s 2019 is off to a rough start.

The Voice host headlined NBC’s New Year’s Eve on Monday, and it didn’t exactly go smoothly thanks to the pouring rain and a few technical difficulties.

Carson, along with co-host Chrissy Teigen and Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones, was drenched during the program, which included performances by The Voice coaches John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and many more. The weather didn’t dampen their spirits, though, as Carson posted a photo joking about his notes being completely soaked.

“It’s fine really, it’s fine. I’m actually wearing a snorkel,” he said.

But even the trio’s attempts to stay positive early on in the night couldn’t save the countdown from its overall awkwardness, as this video proves: First, the clock disappeared during the last 25 seconds, causing the group to have to rely on the crowd for the final few moments. “Can’t see the clock,” Carson pleaded, before joining in with the cheers of the onlookers. Then, when the ball finally dropped, viewers weren’t able to clearly see the structure, as the smoke from the fireworks obstructed its view.

And because that wasn’t enough, 2018 gave one final blow to Chrissy, as Leslie accidentally poked the model in the eye with her umbrella. Chrissy had a great sense of humor about the incident, tweeting the next day, “I’m okay!” and “Heading back out to time’s square to find my eyeball.”

Though the hosts seemed to have a good outlook on the special’s rough moments, the audience at home wasn’t as forgiving. Many took to social media to call it “the WORST thing I have ever seen,” and saying it was “a complete disaster.” One user even said, “No one is having a worse New Year’s Eve than Carson Daly.”- Source
