Megan Fox Opened Up About Having a “Psychological Breakdown” from Being Hypersexualized

Back in the early aughts, Megan Fox was one of the biggest actors in Hollywood, starring in movies like Jennifer’s Body, Transformers, and let’s not forget her iconic role as Brianna Wallace in Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s Holiday in the Sun. In the years since she was all over the movie screens, Megan’s been busy working on movies and TV shows, producing her own show, raising her three children, and staying out of the public eye. But she just opened up to Jennifer’s Body screenwriter, Diablo Cody, 10 years after the movie premiered and shared that she suffered a “psychological breakdown” after being hypersexualized for so many years.

In a video with Entertainment Tonight, Megan told Diablo that she actually wasn’t upset about the poor reviews for Jennifer’s Body because she was already dealing with so much other crap. She said:

“There was so much going on with me at that time, that movie being picked apart was not at the top of [my list of concerns]. Because I had such a fraught relationship with the public, and the media, and journalists, and I was struggling so much at that time in general, this didn’t stand out as a particularly painful moment, it was just part of the mix.”

Megan also said that being objectified caused her to have a “genuine psychological breakdown.” She explained:

“I didn’t want to be seen, I didn’t want to have to take a photo, do a magazine, walk a carpet, I didn’t want to be seen in public at all because the fear, and the belief, and the absolute certainty that I was going to be mocked, or spat at, or someone was going to yell at me, or people would stone me or savage me for just being out…so I went through a very dark moment after that.” – Source
