Hugh Jackman Knows How That Gay Rumor Started, Still Doesn’t Care

Hugh Jackman has once again responded to rumors that he’s secretly gay.

“Some dudes do get upset, some dudes say, ’Don’t say I’m gay,’ [but] I am good,” said the Greatest Showman star during a recent radio interview, Metro reports.

The 50-year-old Australian actor, who has been married to Deborra-lee Furness since 1996, believes the speculation stemmed from his Tony-winning performance as gay singer-songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz. In the musical, which opened on Broadway in 2003, he shared a lingering smooch with a male co-star.

“I was literally just locking lips… I started to laugh so hard,” Jackman recalled of one performance. “So I stay kissing him, because I thought, ’I’m just going to laugh. I’m going to stay here until it subsides.’ And it never subsided and the whole audience could see my body shaking, so they started.”

Jackman has addressed gay rumors in the past, once revealing they annoyed his wife. “Just recently, it bugs her,” he told THR in 2013. “She goes: ’It’s big. It’s everywhere!’” – Source
