“If It Weren’t for My Children, I Wouldn’t Be Here Today”: Yolanda Hadid Shares Her Struggle With Lyme Disease

With celebrities such as Avril Lavigne, Alec Baldwin, and, more recently, Yolanda and Bella Hadid opening up about their struggles with Lyme disease, you might be surprised to learn that the first recorded case of Lyme disease dates back to 1975. Yet, 46 years later, there is still stunningly little reconcilable information on the tick-borne illness to be found.

Symptoms, which include fatigue, muscle pain, and serious memory impairment, can become chronic, significantly impacting a patient’s quality of life. It has even led some to contemplate suicide. It’s all the more surprising, then, that there is still no agreed-upon treatment to speak of.

Much like daughter Bella Hadid, who recently went public about her battle against Lyme disease on her Instagram Stories, Yolanda, 57, is now hoping to take the lid off what she calls an “invisible disease.” In conversation with Vogue, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opened up about her personal struggles, sharing glimpses of her darkest hour and offering hope for a brighter future.

Yolanda Hadid: I’m doing really well at the moment, knock on wood! As you know, there is no known cure for chronic Lyme disease, so being in remission is a blessing I cherish every day.

Disease-carrying ticks are common in large parts of the world. Why do you think many of us are still so unaware of the prevalence and seriousness of Lyme disease?

It comes down to a lack of education. Right now, the proper diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease are hindered by three key factors: the lack of a uniform case definition that adequately reflects the clinical presentation of the disease; poor laboratory test sensitivity [a test’s ability to designate an individual with a disease as positive]; and high treatment-failure rates.- Source

Sponaugle Wellness Institute Treats Yolanda Hadid For Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease infects more than 300,000 people per year and fewer than 50% of them recall ever having a tick bite. Lyme Disease does not care who you are or what you do, and if left untreated it can ruin your life.

Sponaugle Wellness Institute has recently been in the news for the treatment of high profile clients and celebrities like Real Housewives Star, Yolanda Hadid. In chapter four, she candidly opens up about her time at Sponaugle Wellness.

Although Yolanda explains she doesn’t yet have a “clean bill of health” her six weeks spent at Sponaugle Wellness have given her the ability to get “out of bed and well enough to (work).” She states in Believe Me, “Dr. Sponaugle points out that I have high levels of mold in my body… This is a big problem for people with Lyme because it weakens the immune system.”

“I’m brought in to see Dr. Sponaugle. He appears to be a genius whose treatments and ideas are outside the box. During my appointment, I can sense not only his excitement about healing but also his underlying frustration with the world of traditional medicine.” – Source
