Kevin Spacey accuser can remain anonymous in sex battery case, judge rules

Kevin Spacey has failed in his attempt to force a massage therapist suing him for sexual battery to reveal his name.

A federal judge in Los Angeles granted the plaintiff’s motion to proceed anonymously after Spacey asked the court to require “a more definite statement” of the man’s identity.

The accuser opposed Spacey’s effort, arguing it was necessary to use the pseudonym John Doe because disclosure of his name might lead to “victim shaming and humiliation” and cause the departure of his high-end celebrity clientele.

“The court finds that anonymity is necessary to protect Plaintiff’s privacy and to protect against any further trauma,” U.S. District Court Judge Ronald Lew wrote in his opinion.

The therapist sued last September, alleging the “House of Cards” actor hired him for an October 2016 appointment at a private residence in Malibu and then grabbed his hand during the massage to force a sex act.

“Plaintiff initially gave Spacey the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was directing plaintiff to massage the pain in his groin area,” the lawsuit said. The therapist tried to ignore the advance and continued the massage on Spacey’s leg in a “nonsexual, professional manner,” it said.

“Spacey again grabbed plaintiff’s hand, but this time forced plaintiff’s hand to rub his penis, scrotum and testicles,” the lawsuit said.

“In shock, plaintiff stepped backwards exclaiming words to the effect of, ‘What are you doing? This is ridiculous. I am a professional. This is what I do for a living. I have a son,’” the paperwork read.- Source
