A number of decades ago, this A++ foreign singer who was in a couple bands when he was young but is definitely more famous for his solo work was the subject of an X rated rumor which wasn’t true.

What was true was the singer, who has been married several times and linked to many beautiful women, also had a period of same s.ex se.xual encounters.

One encounter(s) was with a very well endowed partner.

During too enthusiastic s.ex, a part of the singer’s anatomy was damaged and required surgery. The result of this surgical procedure was a whistling sound that rises and falls depending on how the singer moves.

On stage he can quite animated leading to very loud whistling.

At one point, they started using a sound dampening device to limit the effects.

Rod Stewart Addresses The Old Rumor That He Did 17 Sailors

If you never heard it, you’re a liar.

It was the old tale that in the sexually explosive 1970s, rocker Rod Stewart got on his knees and serviced a procession of servicemen, getting so satiated he eventually had to be rushed to the hospital to have his stomach pumped.

Some people have called that a “nasty” rumor, but I have to admit I was always just plain impressed by it.

But bottoms have assured me it couldn’t possibly be true–not the 17 sailors part, mind you, but the stomach pumping bit.

See, you wouldn’t have to pump it out; the body would take of that itself.

Phew!

And now Stewart has actually addressed this scandalous tale of conspicuous consumption in his memoir, Rod: The Autobiography.

As he told Juju Chang from ABC News’ Nightline last night:

“I had a very mean-spirited press man that is no longer on this earth, so there’s not much he can do about it.

“But he was upset at being fired, so he decided to start this ridiculous rumor. ‘Spiteful’ is the word I would use,” Stewart said with a laugh. – Source
