This B+ list celebrity who is an A+ list athlete in her sport refused to take pictures with several of her teammates.

She said that maybe if they were lucky she would take one with them sometime.

And she wonders why people don’t like her.

Lindsey Vonn: The Reason We Still Hate Skiers

[Note: We don’t actually hate skiers, we just hate this particular attitude, a relic of a bygone era where knuckle-dragging snowboarders were exiled to golf courses and sledding hills and backyards, unable to enjoy lift-accessible terrain.]

In an interview on the Dan Patrick show on ESPN, world-class skier (seriously, she rips) Lindsey Vonn made a statement about how she thought it would be “super great” if there was a little separation on the mountain between skiers and snowboarders.

While Lindsey Vonn cited some almost viable concerns, they’re still pretty much shit. The attitude displayed is what still creates much of the animosity (where it still exists) between skiers and riders today. So you want to have a different mountain for snowboarders? Then give us all the resorts that would have gone out of business had it not been for snowboarding. You seem to forget that skiing was on the decline in participation numbers compared to snowboarding because it was easier to learn how to snowboard than to ski. Then skiers finally decided to copy the shape of a snowboard and bam! parabolic skis, twin tips, rocker/reverse camber profiles? The list goes on. You’re welcome.

Lindsey goes on to complain about how snowboarders don’t have good peripheral vision. Well you are right, we can’t see behind us. How astute of you to recognize this while you’re sitting in a comfy chair complaining about it. And since the downhill skier (or rider) has the right of way, instead of complaining maybe just give them a wide berth if passing behind, or pass in front of them where they can see you!

If you get blindsided after sharing the mountain with snowboarders for 30 years, it’s your own damn fault.

Sure snowboarders can be seen sitting all over the place and we get that. We all hate gapers. However there are just as many skiers sitting (or standing, it’s much easier to stand on skis) on the hill getting in the way as there are snowboarders. You just have a bit of confirmation bias that allows you to turn a blind eye to Little Johnny Fallsalotandcantgetup because he’s on two planks.- Read more here
