Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri deported from America after prison release

Anne Hathaway’s ex-boyfriend has been deported from the United States of America.

Raffaello Follieri was kicked out of the country immediately following his release from federal prison in Loretto, Pensylvania yesterday,

The conman has spent the past four-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to 14 counts of wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering in October 2008.

A representative for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement told TMZ: ‘ICE carried out the order of an immigration judge, and removed Follieri from the United States May 25, 2012.’

Back in 2008, he admitted to having ‘no excuses’ for his Vati-Con scheme, pretending to be the Vatican’s chief financial officer, and owing more than $3.6 million to investors.

‘The most important thing I want the court to know is I was not raised with bad values,’ he told Manhattan Federal Judge John Koeltl at his sentencing.

‘I started off with good intentions, determined to run an honourable business and make everyone proud of me. What I did was wrong and there is no point in making excuses. I will never be able to wash away the shame. I just hope that someday those who have been hurt by my actions will forgive me.’

Follieri used the money to pay off medical bills, his $37,000-a-month rent, and a lavish Dominican Republic New Year’s 2006 holiday with the 29-year-old Devil Wears Prada star.

During their four-year courtship, Anne also served as a financial donor and a member of the board of directors for Follieri’s foundation before the IRS began investigating the organization for failing to file tax papers required for non-profits.
