Meghan Markle Says She and Prince Harry Are “So Proud” of the Hubb Community Kitchen on Video Call

Meghan Markle’s first solo project as an official member of the royal family was to partner with Hubb Community Kitchen to produce a cookbook, Together, which raised funds for the organization—a community kitchen started at Al Manaar mosque in the aftermath of the Grenfell Tower fires as a place to prepare food for the bereaved, which has since grown into a larger charity.

On Sunday, the third anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fires, the Duchess of Sussex spoke with members of Hubb Community Kitchen over video chat.

“I think back to when I met all of you and how you had all come together in the wake of what you experienced in your community,” the Duchess said, per the Evening Standard, “and now what you have done is such an inspiration, you continue to give back, you continue to to put love in action. And that’s really what Hubb is all about… we know it means love but you are the example of love in action, and that is your purpose.”

Meghan went on, “I’m so proud of you, so is Harry, and we are sending so much love to you from across the pond and thinking of you today, as I’m sure it’s a difficult day, but also one where you can look at how much you’ve accomplished in the past three years, and how you continue to give back and be an example for all of those around you.”

In April, the Duchess also spoke with members of Hubb, praising their efforts to distribute food amid the pandemic—even if social distancing meant that the women had to make it in their own homes, rather than the community kitchen. “The spirit of the Hubb Community Kitchen has always been one of caring, giving back, and helping those in need, initially in Grenfell and now throughout the UK,” Meghan said. “A home cooked meal from one neighbor to another, when they need it most, is what community is all about.” – Source
