The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours’ Lyrics Seem to Be About His Deep Regrets Leaving Bella Hadid

The Weeknd released the third single off his upcoming album After Hours at midnight, and yet again, the lyrics give a rare look into the artist’s thoughts about love and relationships, along with his regrets ending things with one girl.

There’s solid proof lyrically that The Weeknd’s on-off ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid may be the inspiration behind these lyrics. Lines like “my heart belongs to you / I’ll risk it all for you I won’t just leave / This time, I’ll never leave,” seem to suggest he left before but wants to seriously commit to Hadid now.

Even in their last time dating, The Weeknd was contemplating marrying Hadid. In November 2018, Us Weekly reported that The Weeknd was ready to put a ring on it, with a source claiming the two were “madly in love” with each other and “a proposal is on the horizon.” Hadid and The Weeknd ended up splitting in August 2019.

The Weeknd may have even thrown in a reference to his relationship with Selena Gomez in the bridge. International pop star ‘The Weeknd’ has been in news for his much loved new songs like Blinding Lights. According to media reports, one of his upcoming songs will have the name of his previous love interest Selena Gomez. People have been wondering if it means that he will dedicate the song to her or is it just a title.

The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, and Selena Gomez’s lost love is not a secret to anyone. The couple have been quite vocal about their love and differences. In November last year, The Weeknd had posted on his official Instagram handle a little preview of his upcoming album. According to a report by a leading news portal, one of the many names in that album list was called, “Like Selena”. It is being assumed that the song is dedicated to his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez. However, neither the singer nor anyone from the team has confirmed such a title or a song.

In the past, when The Weeknd released the song “My Dear Melancholy”, there were widespread speculations about the song hinting towards his relationship with pop star Selena Gomez.
