The song was a shoe in for an Oscar nomination. Until it wasn’t. The singer says it was never nominated because she refused to sleep with the head of the record label so he pulled some strings and the next thing you know, the song got buried in the middle of a bunch of other songs and didn’t make it past the first round of balloting.
