Demi Lovato on Scooter Braun: I’m So Lucky to Have a Manager Who Loves Me For Who I Am

Demi Lovato recently appeared on Ellen to discuss her bulimia and she says that her new manager Scooter Braun has been truly influential in her recovery.

A big part of what eventually led to her overdose two years ago was her struggle with disordered eating, which, unfortunately, was only made worse by her old management team.

Demi told Ellen DeGeneres that her previous team would, unbeknownst to her, secretly remove all sugar from any room she was in and would take out the phone from her hotel room to prevent her from ordering room service. As Demi explains,

“My life, I just felt it was so… and I hate to use this word, but I felt it was controlled, by so many people around me.”

Even worse was the fact that her team didn’t know how, or wasn’t willing to, help her through her struggles.

“My bulimia got really bad and I asked for help and I didn’t receive the help that I needed. So I was stuck in this unhappy position. Here I am sober and I’m thinking to myself, ‘I’m six years sober, but I’m miserable. I’m even more miserable than I was when I was drinking. Why am I sober?’”

Her team ended up abandoning her after that, which is when she met Scooter Braun. Perhaps one of the most notable memories she has with Scooter is her 27th birthday when he made her dreams of having a real birthday cake come true.- Source
